Position Details
Kennedy Elementary School in the Grafton School District is seeking a regular full-time special education teacher, beginning in August of 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. The likely grade level range for this position is at the mid-elementary school grades (Anticipated between 2nd-4th grade).
For background information, Kennedy Elementary School is one of two elementary schools in our school district and has approximately 500 students across 4K-5th grades. Both elementary schools in our school district have undergone extensive renovations and additions from construction projects due to the passing of a recent referendum and we are proud of our beautiful facilities and our collaborative culture.
Qualified candidates should possess license # 1801 – Cross Categorical Special Education and should submit a letter of interest, resume, letters of recommendation, and transcripts to be considered for this position. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to develop, implement, and review individualized education plans for students with disabilities.
- Serve as IEP Case Manager for assigned students.
- Conduct special education evaluations and serve on evaluation teams to determine eligibility for Special Education services.
- Design and implement instructional strategies that accommodate the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
- Modify curriculum materials and assessments to meet individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to address students' academic and behavioral needs.
- Collect and analyze data on student progress to inform instructional decisions.
- Regularly communicate with parents and other team members about students' progress and areas for improvement.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and support to address challenging behaviors.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and attend professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and educational trends in special education.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
