Position Details
The Hartford Union High School District is seeking a full time Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher to start in the 2024-2025 school year at Hartford Union High School. Hartford Union High School’s mission is to engage and support all learners to discover their passions, achieve high academic goals, and contribute to a global society.
The mission of the HUHS special education department is to collaborate with, support, and provide necessary resources to all students, parents/guardians, staff, and the community to maximize the attainment of academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and vocational skills required to be successful in post-secondary life.
Special and general education staff work closely together to make available a range of options to meet the unique educational needs of students with disabilities. Interested candidates should demonstrate strong collaboration skills with peers and families. In addition, they should exhibit the ability to co-plan and co-serve to meet a variety of needs.
Preferred candidates will have experience in reading intervention, as this is the primary focus and allocation of time for this position. Reading background preferred.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
DPI License in Cross-Categorical Special Education (1801)
Preferred candidates will have a high school Special Education (1801, 1830, and 1811) license.
All qualified candidates will be expected to:
- plan and deliver effective instruction to students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods that provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate;
- collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students;
- positively engage various stakeholders in the school and community;
- establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students;
- use data to adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests; and perform other related duties as assigned.
