The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District has an opportunity for you to join our workforce as an Electrician.

Job Responsibilities: This position involves skilled work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical wiring systems and equipment. The Master Electrician designation includes the review and pulling of appropriate electrical permits from the City of Oak Creek when applicable.

Typical duties include:

  • Installing wire, conduit, outlets, fixtures, switches, switchboards, panel board transformers, and other equipment to make extensions, additions, or alterations in electrical service for power, heat, ventilation, and light.
  • Performing preventive maintenance, including cleaning, oiling, inspecting, and adjusting of electrically operated or controlled wiring systems and equipment.
  • Testing, replacing, and repairing components of defective or worn-out electrical systems and equipment related to motors, generators, storage batteries, pumps, timing devices, and bells.
  • Assisting with electrical or low voltage work in support of the IT department on systems such as door access, cameras, smart boards, projectors, and more.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to sketch circuits, estimate costs, requisition materials and supplies
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and at odd hours when emergency situations occur
  • A minimum of 20 years of Journeyman status with 10 years of that service holding the designation of Master Electrician.
  • A minimum of 10 years working within a public school system environment.
  • Candidates must have graduated from a trade school, high school, or equivalent; completed an approved apprenticeship for electrician.
  • A valid unrestricted Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
Highly Desirable 
  • Experience in the support of HVAC work including Niagara Building Automation System and experience servicing fire alarm systems. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Aptitudes Thorough knowledge of the principles, standard practices, materials, symbols, components, tools, and instruments of the electrical craft; working knowledge of the laws, codes and standards of electrical construction and installation; thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safe work practices of the trade; ability to install, operate, maintain and repair wiring systems, equipment, and related apparatus; ability to analyze and to work form blueprints, sketches, specifications, and diagrams; ability to estimate costs for small electrical projects; skill in the use of hand tools common to the trade; ability to work in high places on ladders, scaffolding and aerial lifts; ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
