The Wauwatosa School District seeks Long-term Substitute Speech/Language Therapist for the Wauwatosa Montessori School.  Wauwatosa Montessori School serves approximately 193 students.

Position Summary: The Long-term Substitute Teacher fills in for regular teachers, continuing the educational program for students.

Start Date: October 28, 2024
Anticipated Courses: Services for students who receive speech/language therapy for grades 4K - 8th.
Anticipated Term: October 28, 2024 through February 4, 2025
Anticipated Hours: Daily from 7:45 am - 3:45 pm



REQUIRED:
- Relevant certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (Teaching Certification)
- Strong content knowledge, with the ability to teach high school students
- Ability to differentiate instruction in mixed-ability classrooms
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in both oral and written form
- Ability to work independently

Essential Job Functions:
- Follows lesson plan left by the teacher for whom he/she is substituting
- Maintains classroom environment conducive to effective learning
- Maintains a safe environment, taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, colleagues, visitors, materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding students and staff
- Supervises students inside and outside the classroom
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and recess periods
- Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments
- Holds expectations for high performance of self and students
- Performs various clerical functions (e.g., taking attendance)
- Demonstrates computer literacy and operates software programs as related to job responsibilities
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
- Complies with the following requirement: The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
