Position Details
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instructional support with students in all educational environments to meet goals and objectives outlined for the district and each building. This individual will primarily be at the elementary buildings providing one-on-one support in a highly needed area of expertise. Interact with immediate supervisor, teachers and parents, as assigned by the supervising teacher or principal.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assists students' needs to maximize inclusive learning by reinforcing and reteaching skills taught with individual students and/or small groups
- Assist students with advanced activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities, at an advanced level incorporating these specific tasks are listed here but not limited to: toileting, diapering, medical needs, feeding, maneuvering, hygiene, lifing, behavior intervention, communication, restraint.
- Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
- Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance as needed.
- Leads students and/or groups in classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
- Assists all students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas.
- Prepares educational materials to best advance the independent learning within the student’s IEP framework.
- Assists professional staff with parent contact, as requested, to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
- Participates in IEP process and serves as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Assists with fostering independence, socialization, and self esteem for all students. Working students towards an independent learning model as defined through the District’s professional development work.
- Perform any other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

- High School diploma
- Must obtain a special education program aide license through Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
- Must obtain professional development hosted by the District in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), PBIS training, participate in specific collaboration meetings about student(s) with whom the individual works, along with trauma informed practices.
