The Elkhorn Area School District is accepting applications for an Accounting Assistant in the Business Office. This role services as the Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager as well as the back up for payroll. 
 
Accounting/Finance 
  • Enter and process purchase orders.
  • Enter budgets into Skyward.
  • Process budget transfers
  • Process and maintain new vendor requests
  • Responsible for accurate financial records & completion of claims for all state and federal grants.  
  • Record and maintain fixed asset reports.
  • Complete DPI Reports (Ex. School Calendar, School Census, High-Cost Special Ed, transportation)
  • Process Medicaid reports (including Staff Pool List, Calendar, and all quarterly/yearly reports)
  • Reconcile transportation billing.
  • Maintain District Safety Training Completion
  • Responsible for creating district accounts receivable invoices.
  • Backup for deposits (including counting money and bringing to the bank)
  • Maintain district insurance certificates.
  • Process retiree dental insurance billings
  • Receive and maintain Student Injury Reports
  • Assist in summer school purchasing
  • Reconcile Summer School Fees

Administrative Assistant

  • Process volunteer forms (including background check and maintaining a list for all employees to see).
  • Responsible for running DMV driving checks 
  • Order Office supplies as needed
  • Cover front desk duties if needed
  • All other duties as assigned
 
 
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in accounting/business or equivalent experience preferred. 
 
Experience and/or Training: 
  • Knowledge of and experience with personal computers and software systems/applications including Microsoft Office, Google Application
  • Knowledge and experience with computerized payroll applications 
  • Excellent Communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills – must be a team player!
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Enjoy and effectively interact with the public, students and staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time in a calm, pleasant and efficient manner.
  • Ability to create professional business correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and organized business office files and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet timelines.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and with frequent interruption.
