The Whitewater Unified School District is seeking a dynamic full-time Special Education Teacher to work at Lakeview Elementary School. Job responsibilities include: evaluating, developing and monitoring IEPs, progress monitoring, and providing direct or related service to children per state and federal disability service delivery guidelines.

 

Lakeview Elementary School is located about six miles south of Whitewater in a beautiful rural setting. With about 200 students, Lakeview houses early childhood through 5th grade. The amazing students, dedicated staff, and involved parents create a family feel among the school community that is unique to a smaller rural school. It is our priority to meet the needs of every child, every day in an inclusive and unified way. Whitewater is a vibrant, diverse community with a growing population of multilingual families.

 

Whitewater Unified School District has elements of rural and suburban communities. The City of Whitewater has a population of approximately 14,500. Whitewater is located in southern Wisconsin, approximately 45 miles west of Milwaukee, 45 miles east of Madison, and 100 miles northwest of Chicago. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with an enrollment of over 10,500 students, offers residents a variety of cultural and educational opportunities.

 

Qualifications:  The successful candidate must be able to work well in a team with special education and regular education teachers and have a background and/or experience in literacy development, co-teaching, modifying behaviors, and implementing structured behavioral intervention plans. Preference will be given to candidates who are multilingual.
