The School District of Janesville is hiring for a Janesville International Education Program (JIEP) Assistant (5.75 hrs per day) at the Educational Services Center for the School District of Janesville.

This position focuses on administrative support of the JIEP program.  The ideal candidate will have advanced organizational and technology skills (including social media), be culturally sensitive and aware, and share in the vision of what international education can mean for students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

1.       Support the JIEP Director and JIEP Coordinator in their duties.

2.       Become familiar with the various Visas (e.g., B1, F1, J1) used in the program, and understand the Homeland Security and State Department requirements. 

3.       Assist the JIEP Coordinator to recruit families, and act as a host family liaison for those Janesville families hosting students or staff.

4.       Assist the JIEP Coordinator to plan for the arrival/departure of all international students and staff (including dignitaries) and arrange for their American culture introductions as appropriate.

5.       Provide consistent and reliable communication with the School District of Janesville’s international offices. 

6.       Assist the JIEP Coordinator to provide travel documents germane to each partner country, and schedule travel for students and staff as required. 

7.       Assist the JIEP Coordinator to arrange and coordinate immersion camps, which will include:  group lodging accommodations, meals, transportation and excursions as required.

8.       Support the JIEP program’s website, social media, and print marketing efforts with appropriate materials, including pictures, written content, etc.  

9.       Other duties as assigned.

This is a school year position beginning August 21, 2024.

This position participates in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).

1.    Ideal candidate will have experience working directly with international students and/or have personal international travel/work experience.

2.    Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of the Janesville community.

3.    Multilingual skills are preferred, but not required.

4.    Candidate must demonstrate diplomacy and tact.

5.    Flexible disposition, open to growth/new experience, and be resilient, curious, and culturally aware.

6.    Flexibility with schedule as needed.

7.    Personable, emotionally mature, with limited personal or professional drama.

8.    Valid Wisconsin Driver License with good driving record.

9.    Current insurance coverage that meets employment requirements.

10.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
