Position Details
The School Bus Monitor is responsible for assisting bus drivers in providing on-going and emergency support to students while riding, loading and unloading the school bus to ensure the safety of all passengers.
Key responsibilities include:

Actively monitors students while on bus; maintains safety and order on the bus; provides first aid to ill or injured students; Builds positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and the driver

Assists with checking students in, loading, and unloading on/off the bus

Assists the driver with maintaining cleanliness on the bus which may include light sweeping, removing trash items from the bus interior, and/or wiping down the interior due to emergency situations or health concerns

Provides assistance during emergencies, evacuation planning and drills; provides knowledge and operates emergency window exits

Maintains confidentiality. Advises the bus driver and school administration on concerns

Required to have prompt, regular attendance

Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
This position begins in the 2024-25 school year and the successful candidate will start in late August. The position will involve 2 hours per day in the afternoon, and follow the school days scheduled on our annual calendar.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with students and adults.

Ability to supervise, manage, and assist students with patience and understanding.
