The Verona Area School District is seeking applicants for the Director of Food Service, to start around August 1, 2024. The Director of Food Service administers and directs the district-wide child nutrition program and operations including breakfast, lunch, snack program, and catering.  The Director of Food Service ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the school cafeterias and is responsible for the production and evaluation of nutritious, appetizing meals for students and staff while meeting all governmental and district regulations.  Operations include 7 satellite kitchens and 1 central kitchen. The School Food Service Director must also ensure the district is maximizing its resources and minimizing production costs, supporting student wellbeing and aligning workstreams with Results Policies and Operational Expectations.

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or
concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and
consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; OR
 
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with any academic major or
area of concentration, and a State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors. In
Wisconsin this is the GOALS Certificate; OR
 
Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least two years of relevant school
nutrition programs experience; OR
 
Associates degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or
concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and
consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; and at
least two years of relevant school nutrition programs experience.
 
Experience: 3-4 years experience with supervision/management of food service and child nutrition operations, quantity cooking/baking, menu planning, food safety and sanitation.
