Position Description:
The School District of Crandon is a Wisconsin Public Pre-K through 12 district governed by a five-person board. The 2023-2024 population is 815 students with 411 students in the elementary school, and 404 students in grades 6-12. The annual budget is 14.5 million dollars and the District employs 72 teachers, 54 support staff, and 5 administrators.

The School District of Crandon is located in Northern Wisconsin. It serves 7 municipalities’ in Forest County and is home to the Forest County Potawatomi and Sokaogon Chippewa Native American tribes. The district is a member of CESA 8 and the Northern Lakes Conference.

DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR QUALIFICATIONS


The School District of Crandon is seeking an individual who is comfortable living and working in a small, rural district and is committed to providing effective leadership to all aspects of the district's operations. The individual must be a student-centered child advocate. They should be honest and ethical with strong interpersonal skills which engender trust and approachability. In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate skills in the following areas: 
 
FINANCE- Demonstrate a solid understanding of school finance, both at the building and district level and its relationship to the fiscal operations of the school district as a whole. Demonstrate an ability to work with a small administrative staff, which includes a business director, to plan, implement, and manage a budget that supports all phases of the district's operations. 
 
LEADERSHIP-  Exhibit a strong and principled leadership style to the school board and staff based on trust, respect, and transparency. Practice a servant leadership management style that encourages collaboration, appropriate levels of delegation, and team building. Utilize practices that maximize and continuously improve the knowledge, skills, and practices of staff while holding them accountable for results. 
 
COMMUNICATION- Demonstrate a genuine interest in communicating with the board, staff, and community on both professional and personal levels. Exhibit good listening skills and a clear willingness to consider and act on feedback from the board, staff, and others. Demonstrate an ability to speak and write with clarity while also using technology to foster an understanding of school issues and initiatives. Demonstrate a commitment to engaging with the community as an active participant in community-based organizations and events. 
 
TEACHING AND LEARNING- Demonstrate an understanding of current programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing instruction and academic achievement for all students. Demonstrate the ability to be an instructional leader at both the middle/high school and elementary school levels. Exhibit knowledge of how to share and use data to determine the effectiveness of educational programs and the accomplishment of district goals. Exhibit a willingness to utilize the skills and interests of all staff members to improve educational opportunities for students.
