Position Details
The Career Experience Coordinator is a collaborative leadership position tasked with increasing community partnerships to foster opportunities for student college and career readiness. The Career Experience Coordinator will leverage partnerships with businesses, post-secondary institutions, community, and public education to increase the relevance of the school curriculum for all students.
CERTIFICATION:
- Certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as Teacher or School Counselor.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Academic and Career Planning (ACP)
- Onboards and trains high school staff on ACP/Advisory delivery practices.
- Collaborates with ACP stakeholders 6-12.
- Develops and shares to all staff weekly ACP notifications, announcements, and activities for students to include opening week ACP activities.
- Monitors, maintains, and improves ACP dashboard.
- Updates annual Education for Employment (E4E) policy and presents annual update to School Board in June.
- Updates website and course guide for ACP and work-based learning programs.
- Coordinates all software related to ACP.
- Participates in annual building and district ACP programming evaluations.
- Coordinates with district ACP team to ensure quality scope and sequence of opportunities for students.
- Connects with and brings in appropriate speakers/presenters from multiple career clusters throughout the year.
Youth Apprenticeship (YA) and Workplace Learning Experiences
- Works extensively to create, support, and maintain high quality youth apprentice opportunities.
- Expands and develops community partnerships that lead to a variety of unique career-based experiences for students to include partnerships with post-secondary institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and K-12 education.
- Attends quarterly Workforce HUB meetings, NTC School-to-Career meetings, and YA Steering Committee and Coordinator meetings.
- Participates in community career nights.
- Participates in community meetings to orient businesses on various partnership options.
- Increases the number of students involved in internships, job shadows, youth apprenticeship, and general employment.
- Organizes, advertises, and supervises industry tours.
- Organizes and coordinates job shadows (group/individual).
- Organizes, advertises, supervises business career panels, resume/mock interviews, etc.
- Advertises general employment opportunities.
- Reviews student resumes and cover letters.
- Post jobs, youth apprenticeships, industry tours, job shadows, etc. in Canvas and updates content pages in the course.
- Organizes career cluster specific business and industry tours.
- Organizes Annual Greater Wausau Youth Hiring & Career Fair in collaboration with a committee of local high school representatives. (D.C. Everest hosts 2024-2025).
- Builds and sustains partnerships with local business and industry partners as well as post-secondary institutions.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT IT TAKES:
- Experience in developing school to business partnerships.
- Leadership experience.
- Regular travel to various off-site locations using personal vehicle.
