This start date of this position is tentative for the summer workdays (sometime in July) and flexible based on candidate availability. School year workdays start August 27, 2024.

The Community Outreach Coordinator at D.C. Everest will be responsible for the continued development of our community partnerships in the form of management of our volunteer system, local scholarships, and community outreach. Additionally, the Community Outreach Coordinator will be a member of the Community Relations team and work closely with the Career Experience Coordinator with some overlapped responsibilities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Scholarship Coordination

  • Serves as the primary point of contact with scholarship donors to establish new scholarships and maintain existing scholarships. 
  • Collects scholarship intentions from each scholarship donor to include scholarship name, amount, and how many are being offered, if a donor is creating their own scholarship application or the donor wants their scholarship criteria included on the D.C. Everest Local Scholarship Application, if donor selects their recipient or our local committee selects, and if they plan to present their scholarship at awards night.
  • Posts scholarship applications from local, regional, state, and national organizations - over 160 scholarships are posted yearly.
  • Promotes, creates, and manages the D.C. Everest Local Scholarship Application in a scholarship portal for graduating seniors.
  • Leads meetings for seniors to promote and increase scholarship submissions.
  • Organizes a Local Scholarship Committee to select recipients not chosen by individual donors.
  • Prints scholarship certificates and award letters for each scholarship recipient.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Academic Scholarship Awards Night in May for scholarship recipients and presenters.
  • Sends thank you letters to donors at the end of the school year.
  • Collaborates with building administration, school Administrative Assistant, Business Office staff, and Technology staff throughout the year.
  • Ensures effective and meaningful communication between donors, community partners, and students.

District Volunteer Coordination

  • Continues development and implementation of district-wide student volunteer opportunities both in schools and in the community. 
  • Develops and implements goals and objectives for the volunteer programming, which reflects the mission of the district.
  • Maintains tracking of volunteer data.
  • Updates district-wide volunteer policies and procedures as needed.
  • Oversees volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, retention, and tracking.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluation of volunteer programming and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Works directly with district and school leaders to assess volunteer needs and provide opportunities to enhance the school experience through connecting volunteers and schools.

Career Experience Coordination

  • Cross-trains and provide supports to the Career Experience Coordinator by working in tandem to develop experiences and provide guidance to students seeking career opportunities.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, marketing, public relations, human resources management, or similar degree preferred.
  • Experience in developing school to business partnerships, community outreach, and volunteerism.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Regular travel to various off-site locations using personal vehicle.
