Position Details
Position Summary: The Coordinator of Secondary Instruction is responsible for providing curricular leadership across secondary subject areas under the direction of the Director of Leadership and Learning. Position objectives include: 1) providing leadership in the development, articulation & implementation of an exemplary curricular program and assessment; 2) improving the systems and supports to ensure students stay on-track and complete graduation; 3) leads the curriculum review and adoption cycle for secondary content areas; 4) supports the development of professional learning communities; 5) supports the mentor programming for new staff.
Essential Job Functions:

Provides leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state/national standards. Develops, coordinates, and monitors the program of instruction for subject areas and oversees annual updates of curriculum guides.

Assists teaching staff with the implementation of new curriculum guides and new instructional materials.

Lead the resource adoption cycle, resource pilots and adoption, implementation and monitoring of resources across all secondary content areas

Manage curricular leads and oversee Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum alignment across all content areas

Coordinates projects with other curriculum coordinators and administrators within Leadership and Learning

Coordinate middle and high school course catalogs

Collaborates with the Director of Leadership and Learning to develop strategies and broad departmental objectives; establishes methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people in the achievement of strategic objectives

Design, coordinate, and facilitate district wide professional development and contribute to implementation of microcredential courses

Facilitate district wide committees related to instruction and student well-being.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Leadership & Learning
Qualifications:

Master’s Degree
-
Five years of successful experience as a leader in education

Demonstrate knowledge of research-based best practice in the areas of instruction, deeper learning and project-based learning, curriculum, assessment, and professional learning

Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality

Ability to work productively both as a member of a team and independently

Excellent communication and organizational skills
