Job Description:  The School District of Baraboo is seeking candidates for a full-time School Counselor at Jack Young Middle School to begin with the 2024-2025 school year. Approximate start date is August 19th, 2024. Ideal candidates will be able to successfully collaborate and effectively build relationships with students, parents and staff. This position holds a 194-working day contract with benefits.

Qualifications:  Candidate should possess a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification as a Professional School Counselor.  The school counselor should be able to demonstrate proficiency as a school leader, student advocate, and team collaborator who works to remove systemic barriers to student success. The school counselor will work collaboratively with other student service team members to plan the district’s comprehensive school counseling program, including curriculum, responsive services, and system support, as well as facilitate its delivery. The school counselor will provide academic and career planning in collaboration with school staff, while building community partnerships to encourage workforce certification accomplishments for students. The school counselor will also assist the administration with the building of the master schedule for the school. Qualified candidates should demonstrate proficiency in the thirteen school counselor performance standards, including how to effectively collect and analyze data to inform program decisions. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate knowledge or skills in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, Response to Intervention, and Trauma-Informed Care. Qualified candidates will have the ability to work independently and in a team setting, and display strong leadership and organizational skills.  The capacity to interact in a positive, constructive manner with students, families, teaching assistants and teachers is essential.
