Purpose of Position:

Destinations Career Academy is seeking a full-time work-from-home Career Explorations Teacher. This position needs a passionate candidate who wants to help students define their passions and potential career areas—in high school and beyond.  Middle and high school classes are part of the role.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      Teaching duties including, but not limited to supervision of students, grading, lesson planning, and implementation

      General management of online classroom

      Committee participation & student support

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

      Bachelor’s degree

      Passion for supporting career development

      Related work experience is a plus

 Desired Qualifications:  

      Master’s degree

      Dual credit certification with the Wisconsin Technical College System

      One of the following Career & Technical Education licensure areas:

      Agriculture

      Business & IT

      Family/Consumer Science

      Health Science

      Marketing

      Technology & Engineering

      Three+ years of experience

      Appropriate industry certifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      Ability to teach in a hands-on, project-based environment

      Ability to facilitate students in problem-solving strategies

      Skilled in a computer-based environment

      Effective classroom management practices to facilitate learning in a virtual environment

      Ability to work collaboratively with other CTE teachers at both the school and district levels

      Demonstrated commitment to supporting a strong/rigorous curriculum focused on preparing students for relevant technical careers in today's ever-changing workplace

      Ability to flex instruction across all career pathways

      Ability to work with post-secondary programs and instructors to develop and deliver dual credit opportunities for students

      Demonstrated desire and skills required to design programming and make recommendations for classes that will prepare students for competitive careers after high school

      Ability to infuse career development programming within the classroom

      Training/experience with: incorporating computer technology skills in curriculum, use of inclusion models, working within an instructional team, standards-based assessment and instruction, teaching a diverse student population, multi-aged groupings

      Teaching strengths in integrating Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

      Demonstrated successful experience in writing curriculum and developing relationships with the business community

      Understanding and commitment to connecting classroom to business/industry experiential and work-based learning options

      Expectation of continued professional growth and cross-curricular support and
integration
