The Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS) is seeking an educational leader to serve as Principal at Howe Elementary School which serves a student population of 330 in Kindergarten through Grade 5. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership experience that drives school improvement through innovation and culturally relevant and differentiated instruction. The chosen leader will possess an ability to use data to improve student learning through the design and implementation of professional learning communities to refine practices and drive school improvement for all, including the most marginalized populations. We are looking for an inclusive leader to establish positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
The principal is a critical member of our leadership team at WRPS. To ensure that each school is a thriving environment that prepares every student to graduate college, career, and community ready, leaders must demonstrate day one readiness in the areas of: Equity Leadership, Human Resource Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Positive and Collaborative School Culture, and School Management.
At Howe Elementary, staff members work together with families and the community to offer differentiated learning structures that fully engage students. The school serves a population that is economically disadvantaged with needs impacted by high rates of poverty, transiency, homelessness, and trauma. Collaborative initiatives involving community partners helps to support student success at this school. The chosen leader of Howe will maintain and enhance grant opportunities to sustain school programming and current projects, and possess an awareness of trauma-informed care, including aspects of interventions and support in an educational setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Wisconsin DPI license certification #5051 (PK-12 Principal is required).
2. Possess a Master’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university. Graduate work should include school administration, supervision, school business administration, curriculum/instruction, educational
measurement/assessment, personnel, and school law.
3. Three years of demonstrated, successful experience as a teacher at the elementary level.
4. At least three or more years of demonstrated, successful experience in leadership roles at the elementary and/or District level.
5. Demonstrated skills in organizing ideas and presenting them in a variety of modalities (oral, written, presentational, etc.) with clarity and conciseness.
6. Demonstrated sound judgment, social competency, adaptability, self-confidence, emotional maturity, initiative, innovation, enthusiasm and resourcefulness, strong organizational skills, and dedication to duty.
7. Demonstrated successful skills in: communication and/or collaboration with students, staff, parents, and members of the community; establishing and maintaining relationships based on mutual confidence, trust, and respect; ability
to make decisions independently and/or lead group/shared decision-making; identifying challenges and problems and their resolutions.
8. Ability to bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives to the school and District, and promote efforts to meet the needs of traditionally underrepresented students.
9. Such alternatives or additional qualifications as deemed necessary or desirable.
