The Career Experience and Scholarship Coordinator at D.C. Everest will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of Academic Career Planning, Workplace Learning Experiences, and Local Scholarships.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Academic and Career Planning (ACP)

  • Onboards and trains high school staff on ACP/Advisory delivery practices.
  • Collaborates with ACP stakeholders 6-12. 
  • Develops and shares to all staff weekly academic and career planning notifications, announcements, and activities for students to include opening week ACP activities.
  • Monitors, maintains, and improves ACP dashboard.
  • Updates annual Education for Employment (E4E) policy and presents annual update to School Board in June.
  • Updates website and course guide for ACP and work-based learning programs.
  • Coordinates all software related to ACP.
  • Participates in annual building and district ACP programming evaluations.
  • Coordinates with district ACP team to ensure quality scope and sequence of opportunities for students.
  • Connects with and brings in appropriate speakers/presenters from multiple career clusters throughout the year.

Workplace Learning Experiences

  • Resume and cover letter reviews.
  • Mock interviewing.
  • Job shadow coordination.
  • Maintains Student Services Canvas Course.
    • Post jobs, YA’s, industry tours, job shadows, etc. in Canvas.
    • Update content pages in course.
  • Organizes career cluster specific business and industry tours.
  • Organizes Annual Greater Wausau Youth Hiring & Career Fair in collaboration with a committee of local high school representatives. (DCE Hosts 2024-2025).
  • Builds and sustains partnerships with local business and industry partners as well as post-secondary institutions.
Scholarship Coordination
  • Be the primary point of contact with scholarship donors to establish new scholarships and maintain existing scholarships. 
  • Collects scholarship intentions from each scholarship donor to include scholarship name, amount of scholarship and how many are being offered, if a donor is creating their own scholarship application or the donor wants their scholarship criteria included on the D.C. Everest Local Scholarship Application, if donor selects their recipient or our local committee selects, and if they plan to present their scholarship at awards night
  • Posts scholarship applications from local, regional, state, and national organizations - over 160 scholarships are posted yearly.
  • Promotes, creates, and manages the D.C. Everest Local Scholarship Application in a scholarship portal for graduating seniors.
  • Leads meetings for seniors to promote and increase scholarship submissions.
  • Organizes a Local Scholarship Committee to select recipients not chosen by individual donors.
  • Prints scholarship certificates and award letters for each scholarship recipient.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Academic Scholarship Awards Night in May for scholarship recipients and presenters.
  • Sends thank you letters to donors at the end of the school year.
  • Collaborates with building administration, school bookkeeper, district finance staff, and IT staff throughout the year.
  • Ensures effective and meaningful communication between donors, community partners, and students.

WHAT IT TAKES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in developing school to business partnerships.
