The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE High School Health Science Academy Social Studies/AP Psychology/Global Issues in Healthcare Teacher at Logan High School and La Crosse Health Science Academy beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Projected start date: August 27, 2024
 
We are seeking a Social Studies Instructor with a specific interest in Health Care and Psychology within the School District of La Crosse Health Science Academy (0.60 FTE) and Social Studies Department (0.40) at Logan High School.
 
Wisconsin certification 2700 or 701/740 – Social Studies/Psychology required.

Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
●  Familiarity with the Wisconsin State Teaching Social Studies Education Standards.
●  Knowledge of career pathways.
●  Ability to teach in a hands-on, project-based environment.
●  Effective classroom management practices to facilitate learning in a lab environment.
●  Ability to work collaboratively with other CTE Educators at both the district and school levels.
●  Demonstrated commitment to supporting a strong/rigorous curriculum focused on preparing students for relevant technical careers in today's ever-changing workplace.
●  Demonstrated desire and skills required to build and maintain business & industry connections to Health Science Education.
●  Ability to effectively collaborate and plan with other teachers within the Health Science Academy, CTE and across core content areas.
 
Position responsibilities:
●  Monitor student performance and behavior and take appropriate action.
●  Participate in parent/teacher conferences. Interpret student strengths, weaknesses, and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.
●  Collaborate with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approaches to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available.
●  Collaborate with staff to develop instructional units in career education and disciplinary literacy.
●  Advise a Career & Technical Student Organization (HOSA).
●  Expectation of continued professional growth and cross-curricular support and integration.
●  Collaborate with core content teachers to integrate Health Science, Social Studies and core content skills across the curriculum.
●  Maintain and provide accurate records as required.
●  Participate in curriculum writing and review, staff development and/or training, and keep abreast of information in the field of education.
●  Complete additional tasks as required by administrators.
