WHAT YOU’LL DO

Program Development and Coordination

  • Plan, organize and facilitate recreation programs and provide supervision as needed.
  • Evaluate programs and implement recommended changes.
  • Utilize web-based activity registration software to manage programs.
  • Assist with the creation of promotional material, including program flyers, website information and digital advertising.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with D.C. Everest athletic department and facilitate partnerships to offer programs such as sports leagues and skills & drills clinics.
  • Work with community-based organizations, individuals, and businesses to provide educational and recreational opportunities.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for recreation programs and manage the purchase of new equipment.
  • Assist with the development of program budgets.
  • Respond to the needs and interests of program participants.

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise part-time recreation staff, which may include recreation assistants, program supervisors, and referees.
  • Direct other Greenheck Turner Community Center staff with duties related to recreation programming.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising all volunteers associated with recreation programming.
  • Act as point of contact for staff on duty.

Budgeting

  • Assist with the preparation of the recreation programming budget.
  • Make recommendations on the purchase of equipment and supplies necessary for program facilitation.

Operations

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Greenheck Turner Community Center.
  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing staff.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive relations and open lines of communication with volunteers, community groups, and organizations.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • $47,000 per year or higher depending on qualifications and experience.

WHAT IT TAKES

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation management or related field and one year of experience in recreation field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of programs.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and other recreation related computer software.
  • Knowledge of developing and facilitating a wide variety of recreation programs.
