The School District of Fort Atkinson is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Behavior Interventionist at Barrie Elementary Schools beginning with the 2024-25 school year.
Must have experience working with children/adolescents with a variety of social, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Must hold special education teaching license to apply. This unique position will provide both direct special education student support and provide coaching to building staff in behavior management strategies/techniques. This individual is expected to collaborate with our school psychologist, administrators, teachers, and pupil services team to support our district vision for behavior management and PBIS.
Preferred applicants will have demonstrated skills and successful experience in:
- Teaching grades K-5.
- Understanding and applying the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) Framework.
- Activating and coordinating multiple systems of care in order to support students.
- Developing excellent working relationships and consulting with peers, as well as with community and agency stakeholders.
- Experience in leading building level professional development
Essential Functions: - Conduct functional behavioral assessments and design, implement and monitor behavior intervention plans designed to stabilize students in the least restrictive educational setting.
- Assist with and oversee the implementation of behavior programs.
- Understand state and federal regulations relative to behavioral intervention and discipline in schools.
- Develop crisis intervention plans, as needed.
- Monitor for the appropriate use of seclusion or physical restraint per WI Act 125.
- Consults on all aspects of alternative placements and programming including referral, placement, transitions, and reintegration.
- Consult with school staff working with students with behavioral needs.
- Provide consultation to parents re: child development, behavior management techniques, as needed.
- Conduct professional development on behavior management, progress monitoring, data collection techniques, social skills or other targeted district needs.
- Remain current in research/practice in applied behavior analysis.
- Provide social skill lessons and materials to teachers, student groups or individual students as needed.
- Conduct evaluations of interventions.
- Prepare written reports as needed by district.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must be a highly effective, professional who has the disposition, passion, skill, and commitment to work with students with complex needs, their families, and support teams.
Experience with students with behavioral disabilities highly desirable.
