Full Time
Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) is looking for a full-time school-year special education aide for Kate Goodrich Elementary School. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with varying disabilities, patience, a desire to be part of a team, and a willingness to be flexible.
Duties would include, but not be limited to:
-supporting students academically, physically, and emotionally throughout the building (other classrooms, hallways, phy. ed., etc.)
-treat information and records in a confidential manner
-effectively communicate with students
-Implement behavior and other support plans outlined in students' IEP's (Individualized Education Plans)
-student supervision (arrival, transition times, lunch, departure, etc.)
-attend professional development days as requested
-assist substitute teachers
This is a full-time, 10-month position and benefits include health, dental, vision, life, disability, vacation, PTO, paid holidays, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System as well as a 403(b) contribution match up to $500 annually.

Ideal candidates would be able, either now or in the future, to meet requirements of a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional per ESSA Standards which includes one of the following:
1. Associate's Degree, or
2. Completion of 2 years of post-secondary education, or
3. Meet required assessment criteria:
a. WorkKeys ACT Proficiency Score - Mathematics - 3; Workplace Documents - 3; and Graphic Literacy - 3; or
b. ParaEducator Master Teacher Proficiency Score - Instructional Support - 65%; Content and Application - 70%.
In addition to the ESSA standards, the following items are important qualifications for the position:
1. Ability to pass a background check
2. Complete an employment physical including a TB test
3. CPR and first aid training
4. DPI Special Education Aide License
5. Experience with Google platforms including Gmail, docs, sheets, etc.
6. Experience with i-Pads and their educational applications
7. Hold a high school diploma, GED, or higher degree
