The Pecatonica Area School District is a rural school district located in Southwest Wisconsin and serves the towns of Blanchardville and Hollandale. Pecatonica High School is located 40 miles southwest of Madison and 20 miles east of Mineral Point and Dodgeville.

Pecatonica High School is a building that serves over 100 scholars which allows for an individualized approach while still providing access to both career and college ready courses.

We are seeking a highly motivated full-time English teacher starting with the 2024-25 School Year. The right candidate for the position will be student-focused with a keen understanding of the importance of building positive relationships with students and colleagues to be the most effective educator possible. Potential courses to be taught include 10th-grade English, 11th-grade English, and 12th-grade English.

English License #1300, Advanced Placement English Literature experience preferred.

         Qualifications:

      Relevant certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

      Knowledge of effective teaching practices

      Ability to design lessons that meet the educational needs of all students

      Ability to work in a collaborative manner with other staff members

      Knowledge of the key components of professional learning communities (preferred)

 

Essential Job Functions:

      Professional Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and the diverse needs of students by providing meaningful learning experiences.

      Instructional Planning: Uses approved curriculum, instructional strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students

      Instructional Delivery: Engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs.

      Assessment for and of Learning: Gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders.

      Learning Environment: Uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning

      Professionalism: Demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards. Contributes to the profession and engages in professional growth that results in improved student learning.

          Candidates must also:

      believe all students can learn.

      demonstrate a desire and commitment to meet the needs of all students.

      be prepared to change outcomes for traditionally marginalized students, including students in poverty, students with disabilities, and students of color.

      continually reflect on teaching practices.

      establish high expectations for self and students.

      demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving and collaboration.

      use appropriate data and monitoring instruments to inform instruction.

      have or work to gain knowledge of intervention strategies.

      help students grow in ability to acquire, analyze, synthesize, and interpret information.
