DeForest Area School District is located just ten miles northeast of Madison in Dane County. We offer outstanding facilities and a competitive salary and benefits package. We are currently seeking a year-round secretary for DeForest Area Middle School.
A School Secretary is responsible for school secretarial and office management support and communications. Employees must have a thorough working knowledge of school policies and procedures, and general knowledge of events and activities.
Duties include greeting visitors; answering and routing telephone calls; distribute mail; register students; collect fees; schedule meetings; create various documents; assist with inquiries; maintain files and records; create reports; process invoices and requisitions; prepare and record expense statements; assist with budget; generate student class schedules; order supplies; assist substitutes; maintain confidentiality of student and staff information; and other duties as assigned.

Requires a high school education (Associates Degree preferred) and/or related work experience. Knowledge of Skyward Financial and Skyward Student is preferred. Must possess the ability to work independently and have flexibility to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines; effectively deal with a diverse population of children; and use sound judgment and discretion. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; be detail-oriented, and have extensive knowledge and experience working with computers, including GoogleApps, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
