Nicolet Union High School seeks a well rounded, engaging, and inspiring Wellness and PE educator for the 2024-25 school year. This position will likely be teaching multiple sections of Health and additional course(s) within the Wellness course offerings. The ideal candidate will also hold or be eligible for an adaptive certification and hold or be eligible for lifeguarding certification.
A teacher is responsible for preparing lesson plans, assessments, analyzing evidence of student learning and improving teaching and learning based on student outcomes. Classroom instruction must be engaging and focus on educating all students. In order to achieve this, the teacher's responsibilities include assigning homework, grading assessments, documenting student progress, and communicating with parents/guardians. Teachers must possess a skill set to provide instruction in a variety of courses within their subject area. Teachers will operate collaboratively within professional learning communities to help complete these items. Teachers will work cooperatively with the administrative staff to deliver a comprehensive educational program which meets the District’s curricular guidelines and state standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Teachers will provide general supervision in the hallways and locker rooms before and after classes, before the school day begins, after the school day ends and during emergency drills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum of bachelor’s degree required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to effectively present information to top management and the School Board.
EVALUATION The Teacher will be evaluated, at least in part, against the employee job description annually, more as needed, by the Principal or designee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

-Knowing and understanding their own identities and the identities of the students in their care and striving to ensure an equitable learning environment.
-Fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive school culture.
-Ability to communicate well using effective verbal, non-verbal and media communication techniques which foster active inquiry, collaboration and supportive interaction in the classroom.
-Ability to foster relationships with school colleagues, parents and agencies in the larger community in support of students’ learning and well-being.
-Ability to plan different kinds of lessons which use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem-solving and performance skills.
-Knowledge about how children grow, learn and develop and ability to provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social and personal development.
-Knowledge and ability to teach including an understanding of the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the discipline being taught and the ability to make the subject matter meaningful to all students.
-Knowledge of classroom management techniques including an understanding of individual and group motivation and behaviors which enable the instructor to create a learning environment that encourages self-motivation, positive social interaction and active engagement in learning.
-Knowledge of self-evaluation techniques which demonstrate an ability to be a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of various choices and actions upon others including students, parents and other professionals in the learning community, and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
-Knowledge of the subject(s) taught and ability to plan instruction based upon knowledge of the subject matter, students, community and curricular goals.
-Knowledge of various formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social and physical development of the learner.
-Perform various duties relating to the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the No Child Left Behind Act including but not limited to participation and implementation of IEP and 504 plans.
-Understanding that children differ in their approaches to learning and ability to create instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.
-Complete prompt and accurate record keeping.
-When needed, complete student letters of recommendation.
-Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
