The Verona Area School District is seeking applicants for the following position.
Bilingual Resource Teacher
Verona Area High School
1.0 FTE
Position to begin as soon as possible.
This position will serve Bilingual/EL students in Two-Way Immersion and/or monolingual classrooms.
Essential Job Functions:
- Classroom Teaching: Prepare and teach lessons. Grade student work and collaborates with other teachers. Develop or adapt complementary lesson materials in student’s native language.
- Co-teach / Provide In-Class Support for MLs Students: Plan and collaborate with colleagues. Perform individual student planning activities that help students plan, monitor, and manage their educational, personal, and career development. Modify instructional materials, lessons and assessments. Co-teach classes, using push-in or other co-teaching models models, as required. Provide bilingual language support.
- Language Support for dual language programs, including biliteracy development, Spanish reading intervention, etc.
- Case Management: Participate in ML and other team meetings related to students’ needs. Communicate about student issues with students, teachers, counselors, and parents. Support the School Assessment Coordinator and the Multilingual Program Manager in organizing and facilitating standardized test accommodations and groupings. Provide individual/group student support.
- Consult with teachers, parents/guardians, counselors, coaches Bilingual Education Assistants, Multilingual Program Managers and administrators. Make referrals to appropriate resources.
- Curriculum Support and Staff Development: and the school and district with their continuous improvement process. Monitor and make recommendations for improvement goals based on language development and academic data.Develop and adapt complementary lesson materials in students’ native language. Provide teachers with support materials and strategies that assist ELL’s master new learning concepts. Prepare workshops for staff. Work one-on-one with teachers around specific student/teaching issues. Share information concerning approaches and strategies to achieve desired outcomes. Maintain professional development.
