Join the Southwest High School (SWHS) and Lombardi Middle School (LMS) community! The SWHS/LMS community is one with rich tradition, pride, and history of excellence; not only in the classroom but also through our athletic and co-curricular opportunities.
SWHS and LMS are looking for the next Athletics and Activities Director to maintain, and grow, the excellent offerings so that every student can find at least one connection to the school community outside of the classroom. With an emphasis on showing pride as a student-athlete and/or student-participant, and being a role model for others, the SWHS/LMS athletics and activities are developing an inclusive program that showcases the talented and diverse student body. Additionally, SWHS and LMS is seeking an Athletic and Activities Director that can grow the engagement of our student body in supporting the athletic and co-curricular activities.
The SWHS/LMS Activities and Athletics Director is an essential member of both the Southwest High School and Lombardi Middle School administrative team. This Athletics and Activities Director does have the support of assistant Athletics and Activities directors at both the high school and middle school level. Therefore, the ability to collaborate, communicate, and lead towards a high caliber high school/middle school athletics and activities program is necessary.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as:

an Athletics/Activity Director,

a Varsity head coach, and/or
-
an advisor of a large school activity or group (i.e., Show Choir, school musical, band/choir program, etc.)

Attends, supervises or assigns others to all aspects of co-curricular activities after school hours as necessary to ensure adequate supervision.

Specific Responsibilities – Activities Director
-
Communication
-
Acts as liaison between the community, youth programs, coaches, booster clubs, Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), district office personnel, and other school and parent support groups.

Meets with coaches, participants, parents and advisors regularly to seek input, provides updates and provides assistance to them regarding varied issues.

Notifies coaches and advisors of ineligible participants and important information in a timely manner.

Event Preparation and Management
-
Coordinates transportation, officials, supervisors and personnel for events.
-
Ensures that facilities and equipment are ready and safe for competition.
-
Is visible and available at athletic events.

Scheduling
-
Schedules practice times, locations, competitions and post-season events.
-
Coordinates award presentations at school programs.
-
Financial Accountability
-
Plans and monitors the building co-curricular budget.
-
Evaluates all fundraising requests.
-
Hiring and Evaluation of Coaches and Advisors
-
In collaboration with the Building Principal and Human Resources Department, participates in the recruiting, hiring, goal setting, evaluation and termination of personnel for co-curricular activities.

Ensures that all coaches follow the letter and spirit of the coaching manual.

Supervises and evaluates the Assistant Activities Director(s).

Recruitment of Students
-
Develops ways to encourage all students to participate in athletics and co-curricular activities.

WIAA Responsibilities
-
Clearly understands the WIAA rules pertaining to all aspects of athletic participation and disperses to coaches, athletes, families and school personnel.

Verifies athletic eligibility per WIAA policies and the district co-curricular code.

Ensures all coaches attend rules meetings and comply with said rules.

Other
-
Works with the District Administrator with oversight of co-curricular programming and the other district Activity Directors to establish consistent procedures and processes.

Coordinates co-curricular and vertical alignment opportunities between the community feeder programs and the elementary, middle and high school.

Coordinates responsibilities of the Assistant Activities Director(s).

Attends Booster Club Meetings.

Attends Board of Education meetings as needed and presents information on co-curricular activities when requested.

Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
