WUHS inspires all to achieve high expectations and ensures that each student is prepared for college or career, and life! Currently we are seeking a head coach to manage our District's  dance program beginning with the 2024-25 school year. Seeking to fill position as soon as possible for off-season opportuntities.

Goal and Performance Responsibilities:
1. Goal A: To manage and supervise the assigned athletic program, grades 9-12.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to assistant coaches with the approval of the Co-Curricular office.
• Coordinate the issuance, care, and inventory of equipment, supplies (medical, uniforms, etc.)
• Assist the Superintendent and the Athletic and Activities Director in the sport budget and in purchasing of equipment, supplies, and uniform for the particular sport.
• Assist the Athletic and Activities Director in scheduling independent games, officials, and bus times.
• Supervise athletes at all times from the time practice or activity starts until students leave for home. At no time should athletes be without direct supervision of a coach.
• Coordinate the security of all facilities used by the team or coaching staff.
• Submit the following forms to the Co-Curricular Office
a. Complete team rosters for all levels
b. Complete awards, season records, inventory records, and lost equipment
c. All other forms required by the Co-Curricular Office and the WIAA
• Ensure the proper completion of required physical and district forms for participation.
• Ensure the proper completion of parental emergency release forms when the team is traveling.
• Coordinate the distribution, collection, storage, and communication with athletes for all athletic equipment and supplies during the season and at its conclusion.
• Show respect for officials, press, opposing coaches and teams, parents, fans, students, athletes, fellow coaches and WUHS staff.
• Be a leader among young student athletes as an athletic coach.
• Set up meetings and mentor lower level coaches.
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities related to the coaching position as needed or directed by the Athletic and Activities Director and/or the Principal.

2. Goal B: To establish an environment in which the student-athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image.
• Be responsible for awards presentations made during annual banquet and incorporate entire coaching staff.
• Demonstrate an interest in the classroom efforts and off-season activities of student-athletes.
• Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
• Work with athletes in a fair, understanding, consistent, tolerant, sympathetic, and patient manner.
• Encourage students to participate in more than one sport.
• Promote school and community interest in the sport by appearing at pep rallies, holding preseason parent meetings, working with the Booster Club, and utilizing press and announcements for recognition.
• Notify all members of the team on all policies and procedures of the WIAA, Co-Curricular department, and your specific program.
• Be responsible for the conduct of student-athletes and other involved students at all times (practices, games, bus rides, fundraisers, other school functions, etc.)
• Promote unity within the coaching staff and within the framework of the Co-Curricular department.
• Ensure representation from all groups within the student body by providing opportunity for students in all stages of development.

3. Goal C: To enhance the school’s winning tradition within the bound of good sportsmanship.
• Develop teamwork, morale, sportsmanship, courtesy, fair play, academic excellence and strict adherence to the rules of training and conduct.
• Promote the attitude among student-athletes and coaches that winning is important, but is secondary to good sportsmanship and character and the overall welfare of the athlete.
• Promote and develop youth programs through leagues, camps, and/or mentoring of feeder schools and programs.
• Provide resources, support, and feedback to youth level coaches and recreational department programs.
1. Possesses and maintains a high moral character that is in congruence with the expectations of the Waterford Union High School Board of Education.
2. Possesses all qualifications and criteria established by the WIAA and DPI for coaches.
3. Possesses a good knowledge of the sport assigned including, but not limited to, knowledge of training and conditioning techniques and the ability to recognize player
deficiencies and initiate corrective activities.
4. Possesses a good ability to communicate with parents, students, staff, and administration.
5. Possesses the ability to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
6. Possess the ability and skills to supervise students and properly care for school district facilities and equipment.
