Position Details
1. Must be Wisconsin DPI certified as Intellectual Disabilities (ID) teacher, early childhood to adolescence. Additional certification in learning disabilities and/or cross-categorical is preferred.
2. Knowledge and experience working with ID, EBD, and LD students.
3. Must be able to show previous students' successes.
Ability to work with various learning styles, relate to a wide variety of individuals, possess a good concept of inclusion, and focus on the future academic, social, and emotional needs of ID students. Must be knowledgeable in the IEP process. Must be able to work as a team player with teachers, support staff, administration, parents, and community agencies. Ability to implement effective instruction and ongoing assessment based on the State of Wisconsin Essential Elementary in Reading and Mathematics. Excellent communication skills are essential. Knowledge and experience in working toward the inclusion of Special Education students in regular classrooms by providing the needed levels of support. Knowledge/experience with full inclusion/content mastery programs. Desire to work with other staff to create the best possible learning environment.
