Job Description:  The School District of Baraboo is seeking a full-time Special Education  Teacher at Gordon L. Willson Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. Approximate start date is August 19th, 2024. Ideal candidates will be able to successfully collaborate and effectively build relationships with students, parents and staff. This position holds a 190-working day contract with benefits.

Qualifications:  Candidates should possess a current Wisconsin DPI license in Elementary/Middle Level Education (#1088), Cross-Categorical Special Education (#1801), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (#1830), Learning Disabilities (#1811) or Cognitive Disabilities (#1810) and have the ability to co-teach and co-serve in the regular education environment. Experience with diverse student populations is desired. Candidates should have intimate knowledge of how to use a variety of educational service options to meet the individual needs of each student. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, behavior management skills, be highly organized and have intimate knowledge of special education services. Applicants must demonstrate a positive attitude, have successful experience implementing differentiated instruction and inclusive practices, implementing effective teaching strategies, fostering equity in the classroom, developing positive home/school relationships with diverse family structures, collaborating in a team setting, and demonstrating the willingness for professional growth. This candidate will be responsible for case management and the delivery of specialized instruction to students as indicated in individualized education plans and behavior intervention plans.  Experience with diverse student populations is preferred.  Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in culturally responsive teaching and equity.

 

Minimally qualified candidates will have the ability to progress monitor and inform their instruction based upon data.  Ability to conduct and complete high quality IEP’s for students.   The capacity to interact in a positive, constructive manner with students, families, teaching assistants and fellow teachers is essential.
