Position Details
The Berlin Area School District is searching for two efficient and compassionate full time District School Social Workers. One position has an immediate start date. The second position would begin on August 14, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. Under the direction of the Director of Pupil Services and Special Education, the school social worker acts as a liaison and coordinator of services, ensuring the social, emotional, and physical needs of students are met. Clay Lamberton Elementary (4K-5), Berlin Middle School (6-8), and Berlin High School (9-12) sit on the same campus and serve as a hub of activity for the greater Berlin community. The Berlin Area School District is composed of 14 municipalities, with the City of Berlin at the center. Berlin is a rural community with a population of 5,500 located approximately 20 minutes west of Oshkosh and 10 minutes north of Green Lake. The Fox River runs through the center of the historic Victorian downtown. Agriculture, health services, light industry and retail shops comprise Berlin’s economy.
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and effectiveness in the following areas:
-Adhering to legal confidentiality requirements and laws specific to pupil services.
-Working collaboratively and communicating clearly with all stakeholders.
-Assisting with referrals of students to, and serving as liaison with, outside agencies such as Department of Human Services, Juvenile Court, and private mental health providers.
-Coordinating wrap team/coordinated service team meetings.
-Coordinating the implementation of student specific plans.
-Implementing interventions to teach lagging social/emotional and executive functioning skills to students with disabilities.
-Providing short-term interventions to students to bridge the gap until consistent community-based interventions have been implemented.
-Monitoring and ensuring fidelity of student specific plans including behavior plans.
-McKinney Vento and Out of Home Placement Coordinator.
-Conducting risk assessments and supporting mandatory reporting.
-Developing and leading professional development
Salary, benefits, and length of contract: This position works a 190-day contract with a salary not less than $50,000 and an excellent benefits package.
