DEEPER LEARNING
The goal of the Deeper Learning Coach (Instructional Coach) is to embed the competencies of Deeper Learning- Content Mastery, Effective Communication, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Collaboration, Self-Directed Learning, and Academic Mindset into every classroom while working with the building principal to ensure the structures and supports are aligned to the development of the competencies
Qualifications:
● Proper certification as a teacher or administrator as required by state law
● Knowledge of child development, problem solving strategies, resiliency skills, and the Deeper Learning Competencies
● A positive demeanor, collaboration skills, and a team player
● Strong instructional skills
● An Innovator’s Mindset
● A background in Trauma Informed Care, PBIS, Mindfulness, and/or Restorative Practices preferred
● Willingness to learn
Specific Duties: Tier 1 Services
● Support classroom teachers to embed the Deeper Learning Competencies into classrooms
● Work with the scheduling process to ensure flexibility to do cross-curricular and project- based, student driven assignments
● Support classroom teachers to ensure high –leverage engagement strategies are used to ensure students reach the competencies of Deeper Learning
● Work with reading coaches, SPED staff, and EL teachers to bring services for students to the Tier 1 classroom to ensure we are meeting the needs of at least 80% of the students at the Tier 1 level
● Support classroom teachers to ensure Restorative Practices, Mindfulness, Trauma Sensitive Strategies, and PBIS are implemented
● Work with classroom teachers to ensure they know, understand, and implement our Equity Non-negotiables
● Work with co-teaching teams to ensure all students have access to high quality Tier 1 instruction
● Organize and implement required District and State tests
● Communicate a consistent message about our Strategic Plan, 100% of the people for 100% of the students, and that we teach the whole child to teachers, support staff, parents, and students
Specific Duties: Tier 2 Services
● Work with classroom teachers to embed the Deeper Learning Competencies into classrooms
● Participate in CST (Collaborative Support Team) to create intervention plans for students who are struggling with behavior, academics, or attendance that start at the Tier 1 level.
● Assist to schedule Tier 2 interventions within the Tier 1 classroom
● Work with families and staff on intervention strategies and community supports
● Support the work of the Tier 2 MTSS team
Specific Duties: Tier 3 Services
● Work with classroom teachers to embed the Deeper Learning Competencies into classrooms
● Monitor the fidelity of the Tier 3 interventions to ensure students are gaining skills connected to the learning in the Tier 1 classroom
● Work with the PBIS team and SPED case managers to know the FBA/BIP for individual students so that it can be consistently communicated to all building staff
Other duties as assigned by the school principal.
