SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

JOB GOALS:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Reports with students and as directed by administration
2. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and Employee Handbook

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Maintains confidentiality to the School District of Manawa
● Promotes a positive image of the District at all times
● Provide academic and behavioral support for students with disabilities in both special education and general education setting
● Work with individuals or small groups
● Assist with behavior modification as assigned by teacher
● Assist students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, lavatory, clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines
● Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator
● Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
● Report student concerns directly and promptly to teacher and assists with student resolution
● Perform related work as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of Associates Degree or successful completion of the Highly Qualified Title I course work and assessments through Master Teacher at the employee’s expense to be completed within 90 days of employment
2. Valid State of Wisconsin licensure
3. Positive communication skills
4. Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the teaching of young children
5. Ability to use a variety of technology devices for educational purposes
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, and administrators

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
2. Certification in CPR and First-Aid
