Full Time
The Slinger School District is seeking a full-time, 260-day Payroll Specialist to join our team. The payroll specialist will be responsible for processing the District’s payroll for all employees according to the payroll calendar. The payroll specialist will have knowledge of the District’s benefit plan and will work closely with the Human Resource team. • Associate degree or two-year college equivalent with courses in accounting and/or labor relations or payroll
related field.
• Experience in preparation of payrolls and related reporting.
• Experience with Skyward payroll processing highly recommended.
• Knowledge of ACA and FLSA rules preferred.
• Dependable and conscientious with strong work ethic.
• Personal characteristics that reflect excellent record keeping, organizational ability, broad knowledge of
administrative functions, and personal relations skills.


Performance Responsibilities:
• Prepare payroll information and process all related payrolls for employees.
• Develop and maintain a schedule of salary payments and monitor contract/pay changes to ensure proper
payment to employees to include FMLA occurrences and Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) eligibility.
• Review time records for accuracy and verify amount to be paid.
• Process payroll deductions including wage garnishments, tax sheltered annuities, United Way, etc. Compile
reports and remit for payment.
• Process year end reporting to include W2’s, active/retiree 1095’s, and WRS.
• Assure compliance with all payroll laws and regulations.
• Review payroll system upgrades and changes to ensure timely and accurate processing of information.
• Knowledge of and ability to communicate to employees’ basic provisions of group life, disability, dental and
medical insurance, District HRA and flexible spending plan (FSA), and 403(b) annuity programs.
• Knowledge of employee and retiree termination benefits to include COBRA options.
• Process all retiree payout communication.
• Assist employees with resolutions on benefit claim issues.
• Advise employees and coordinate renewal and annual open enrollment cycles.
• Maintain and carry out provisions included in employee handbooks, particularly the sections related to payroll
and benefits.
• Prepare information and reports as requested for annual audit.
