DeForest is a growing suburban community located approximately 10 miles northeast of Madison. We are committed to continuous improvement, grounded in our community's mission and vision for our schools. DeForest Area School District staff strive to acquire a deep understanding of systemic biases within the educational system. Part of this process is discovering how their role as a change agent may work within a collective of staff, students, parents and community members. Our goal is to shift our educational system in a manner that actively creates equitable outcomes for all students. This is an hourly position. The number of hours per week will be based on student need; total number of hours not to exceed grant funding. The 2C coach will work with students, families, key school, district and community partners to ensure educational equity for students and families in transition (experiencing homelessness). The 2C coach will work with PBIS teams and staff to support trauma sensitive lenses to attendance issues for our students/families in transition. The 2C coach will also connect with students in transition who miss school and provide a regular check-in as well as facilitating make-up instructions and support addressing any attendance barriers. The 2C coach should have background in trauma sensitive practices, McKinney-Vento, and be able to work collaboratively with others. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Act as a liaison between the student and other supportive personnel in school and in various community organizations. Monitor students in transition school attendance and provide appropriate interventions as needed. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, and district policy. Work cooperatively with all staff, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and be supportive of other building/district programs. Participate in in-service activities promoted by the district. Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Requires a teaching, social work, school psychologist, school counselor or other related field degree; a valid Wisconsin Educator Certification; and ability to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and the general public and to maintain open communications; ability to plan, organize and establish priorities; ability to work with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic communities; ability to carry out responsibilities independently and in a satisfactory manner; and ability to maintain a positive learning environment. Must demonstrate knowledge of district adopted curriculum and teaching strategies; ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally; and utilization of computer technology in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
