POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the supervision and engagement of students in halls, cafeterias, playground and common areas to ensure the maintenance of a safe school environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise students in large and small groups in halls, cafeterias, playground and common areas of the school to ensure a safe environment
2. Circulate throughout the cafeteria during mealtime while demonstrating, monitoring and encouraging positive student behaviors and enforcing school rules
3. Use conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to monitor and influence student behavior and refer to students for discipline
4. Assist in keeping the cafeteria clean and organized to ensure a safe environment
5. Directs movement of students to and from playground, lunchroom and classrooms in a safe and organized manner
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May assist students with academic assignments.
2. Assumes responsibility for playground equipment.
3. May deal with minor injuries, such as cuts, grazes and bruises.
4. Assume duties of other staff members on an occasional or temporary basis.
5. Perform other duties as assigned which are fairly within the scope of duties normally performed by school aides

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to walk and stand; talk and hear; reach, carry, push, and/or pull with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Generally the job requires 60% walking and 40% standing, including periods of both intermittent and prolonged activity.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use oral communication skills; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; and interact with School District staff, parents, students, and public and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied.
