The Green Bay Public School District is pleased to accept applications for a .5 FTE Special Education-Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching position for the 2023-24 school year. This position will serve district wide itinerant. The DHH Teacher position involves individual evaluation, planning and instruction for students with Deaf and Hard of Hearing needs. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with other DHH teachers in a positive and progressive educational environment. Qualifications Required: Education: Bachelor's Degree License: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification as Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing (805). Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of sign language and cochlear implant technology Qualifications Desired: Experience: Working with students on auditory, self-advocacy, and language skills Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of technology for deaf/hard of hearing students (hearing aids, FM systems, cochlear implants) Essential Functions: In addition to the District's essential functions for all teachers, the following essential functions are intended to expand on the primary job description for this position and further describe the requirements, essential functions, general nature and level of work requirements. 1. Provides specially designed academic instruction and strategies to meet goals and objectives contained in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 2. Collaborates with parents and classroom teachers in order to monitor the impact of hearing loss on student educational progress. 3. Conducts classroom observations to evaluate students in the areas of attending skills, speech reading skills, coping/repair strategies, use of residual hearing and assistive devices. 4. Creates an environment that provides appropriate visual and acoustic access for full participation for students with hearing loss. Monitors for the provision of quality, comprehensive instruction to students in the Least Restrictive Environment. 5. Utilizes specialized materials, equipment and assistive technology for individuals with hearing loss and prepares for the integration of assistive and instructional technology to meet a student’s individual needs. 6. Reviews and implements results of audiological assessments. 7. Schedules meetings and collaborates with team members involved in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 8. Provides ongoing professional learning opportunities and support to District Staff that are a part of a student’s educational team regarding the characteristics and impact of hearing loss, along with demonstrating effective strategies to create a learning environment that is able to meet the needs of hearing impaired students. 9. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Working Conditions: 1. Work involves frequent disruptions of daily schedule. 2. Work involves frequent deadlines under pressure. 3. Work involves strong organization and communication skills. 4. Work requires travel to a variety of assigned schools to provide services to children.
