East High School is seeking candidates for a Student Learning Advocate position for the 2023-24 school year. The accepted applicant would work alongside school staff to proactively support students’ social and emotional needs. The successful applicant would work to pull students for community building groups, as needed, to build skills in self-regulation and conflict resolution. This additional support person would also assist during recess and lunch to monitor student behavior. Refers confidential information to the appropriate person. 6. Follows safe practices and adheres to safety standards. 7. Assists students in academic and attendance improvement. 8. Keep administration and staff aware of student needs. 9. Promotes student engagement of identified under-involved students. 10. Works in partnership with administration and school student services staff to: Meet with diverse student population and families Facilitate one-to-one and/or small group mediation to assist in student conflict resolution Partner in home visits 11. Supports problem solving and advocacy focused on individual student needs. 12. Serves on various school improvement committees related to engagement, behavior and academics and provides interventions, as assigned by the principal. 13. Supports data collection and analysis of behavior incidents, as assigned by the principal. 14. Serves as a liaison between community groups, school administrators and staff. 15. Attends District sponsored meetings and professional learning as required. 16. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Working Conditions: 1. Flexible daily schedule to permit attendance at assigned meetings/professional learning. 2. Work involves frequent disruptions of daily schedule. 3. Work involves frequent deadlines under pressure. 4. Work includes travel to other buildings/sites.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and related experience to equal five (5) years Education: QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: Education: Associates Degree – Child Development or related field This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work required by the person hired for this position.
