TITLE: Director of Human Resources REPORTS TO: Superintendent TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Day Contract The Mukwonago Area School District (MASD) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as our Human Resources Director. We are looking for a professional who will provide a customer-service approach and strategic leadership to recruit, engage, and retain high-quality staff members in accordance with the district strategic plan. This role will conduct daily Human Resources activities involving employees and prospective employees; ensuring that all matters are handled according to district policies and procedures and meet all state and federal legal requirements. The Director of Human Resources is supported by a Human Resources Benefits Specialist and secretarial staff. Located 25 minutes southwest of Milwaukee, the MASD offers small-town charm with remarkable conveniences. Our 90 square miles encompass several municipalities including the Village & Town of Mukwonago, the Villages of Big Bend and North Prairie, and the towns of Vernon, Eagle, Ottawa, East Troy, and Waukesha. We proudly serve 5,000 students in six elementary schools, one middle school, and one comprehensive high school. We were identified as “Significantly Exceeding Expectations” on the most recent Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction accountability report cards. Responsibilities include: Oversee hiring documentation / change orders for support and certified staff. Collaborate closely with the Business Office for payroll and benefit changes. Provide board updates on talent acquisition and retention strategies. Annually update handbooks, policies, and procedures for certified and support staff. Ensure that district HR processes and policies meet district goals and are legally compliant Develop and monitor the HR department budget to include advertising, substitute teacher, and recruitment costs. Prepare documents and participate in Board of Education meetings Collaborate with building principals and department heads for job postings. Work with principals and district administrators to complete personnel investigations, contract non-renewals, and resolve staff discipline. Oversight of benefit administration, open enrollment, changes, and terminations. - Health insurance & new onsite employee health clinic - Vision, dental, disability, HRA/FSA - Collaborate with benefit vendors - COBRA enrollment & exit interviews Lead the onboarding of new staff and off boarding of departing staff. - Manage the use of PowerSchool for onboarding. Act as licensing agent for the district for both support and certified staff Oversee the development, distribution, and collection of employment contracts and supplemental contracts. Coordinate with principals and departmental leadership for the issuance of reasonable assurance letters. Create and manage job descriptions, and conduct job analysis Oversee the compilation and organization of all necessary documents for local, state, and federal staffing and benefit reports and file WISEstaff report Lead weekly departmental HR meetings and attend superintendent cabinet meetings. Provide guidance to the district and school leadership as well as the school board on human resource related topics. Review/approve extended leave of absences. Maintain staff personnel files, manage and maintain staff in Frontline Absence Management, monitor leaves including FMLA, worker's compensation, and disability Coordinate and track student teacher assignments to specific schools; complete processing for intern requests. Oversee staff bonuses for successful employment referrals. Administrate annual staff training through Vector Solutions / SafeSchools. Collaborate with Business Department regarding staff compensation and yearly increases to salary. - Work with district departments to track district approved degree/training completion for salary purposes. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Qualifications include: Ideally, candidates will have a Masters degree in school administration and previous experience with: - Educational institutions - Benefits administration - FMLA & Workers Compensation Demonstrated success in Human Resources Administration, employment contracts, and the selection and evaluation of personnel. Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality of employee matters Must possess strong collaborative and interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to be responsive to employees. Software skills to include: Infinite Campus, Alio, Raptor, Frontline, Excel, Word, Google Suite
