We are accepting applications for a Middle School Reading teacher at Wilson Middle School. This is for the 2023/2024 school year. Position Summary: Under general supervision of the Building principal, the Reading Teacher will provide literacy instruction and intervention, primarily with students who are striving to achieve at grade level proficiencies. Qualifications: 1. Valid Wisconsin teaching license: Elementary and Middle School (Kindergarten-9), Reading Teacher (1316) DPI Teacher Certification required or able to obtain proper DPI certification 2. Five years of successful experience teaching preferred 3. A passion and willingness to support the district’s mission, vision and core values 4. An understanding of the PLC process and a willingness to engage with teams to contribute and support learning for staff and students. 5. Ability to develop positive relations with students, staff, families, and community partners to ensure successful programing for all learners 6. The belief that all students are able to learn at high levels through relationship building and utilizing individualized and differentiated learning approaches to achieve desired results 7. Ability to positively build relationships and connections with all stakeholders Essential Job Duties: 1. Demonstrates exemplary literacy practice and possesses a deep understanding of literacy theory for the purpose of improving student achievement levels. 2. Implements a variety of assessment instruments to determine eligibility and instructional needs of students in literacy. 3. Works with classroom teachers and instructional leaders to initiate and maintain the needs assessment process. 4. Provides research based instructional methods for literacy instruction and intervention 5. Organizes instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes. 6. Monitors student learning and paces instruction accordingly. 7. Maintains complete and accurate records of student growth and progress in meeting academic learning targets and standards. 8. Communicates timely and accurate feedback/progress to students, parents, and teachers. 9. Participates in staff leadership teams 10. Participates in regular and on-going professional growth and development activities as required or assigned. 11. Is an active participant in PLC opportunities as assigned with a commitment to learning and results orientation. 12. Maintains the district’s standards about confidentiality of information on students and school related concerns. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
