The Green Bay Area Public School District is seeking an Accountant to join the Accounting & Finance team. This position encompasses the Core Values of the Green Bay Area Public School District as a driver of our words and actions: Excellence, Engagement, Equity, Integrity, and Responsibility. This position is responsible for the accounting, information collection, compliance and claim submission for all federal and state grant programs and assist in all accounting functions for the organization.

- Compiles data for reports requiring a high degree of analysis and judgment.
- Presents oral and written reports to staff, administrators, and board members.
- Trains new users in the District’s financial software.
- Maintains the District’s fixed asset schedules.
- Assists in providing for long-range planning in all areas relating to the Finance Department and timelines for implementation of those plans.
- Checks accounting records for errors and completes journal entries to fix the balances.
- Keeps up to date on the current year benefit rates.
- Works with the Human Resources Department and other Business Office staff to verify staffing changes and other staff information needed to claim salaries and benefits on State and Federal grants.
- Gathers information and prepares schedules/work papers as needed for financial audits.
- Assists in the process for Medicaid reporting.
- Assists in the facilitation of the District’s insurance procurement and processing of claims.
- Facilitates and monitors compliance of fiscal board policies and federal regulations, including the Uniform Grant Guidance policies and procedures.
- Investigates issues using a problem-solving approach and provides guidance and recommendations for problem resolution.
- Collaborates with the Business Services team to develop strategies, goals, and priorities.
- Assures compliance with laws, regulations, statutes, rules and policies affecting the area of Business Services practice.
- Keeps current on all state and federal fiscal requirements for school districts.
- Processes confidential information pertaining to salary and benefit discussions.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations.
- Work entails a flexible daily schedule.
- Work involves travel within the District.
Qualifications Required:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Experience:
- Three (3) years successful experience in a business environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles;
- Extensive knowledge of Accounting System computer software and ability to prepare and analyze budgets and complex reports;
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
Qualifications Desired:
- Three (3) years of successful experience in Accounting;
- Experience with state and federal grants;
- High level of experience with Excel and other business software
