Base: $22.39 per hr, and commensurate with experience
8.0hrs per day, Shift approx: 7:45am to 4:15pm, school year calendar
Full Time
The purpose of this position is to form meaningful partnerships with students, staff and families in order to provide learning opportunities for our disengaged students and improve their school achievement. The Campus and Student Support role will use outreach strategies, conflict resolution, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, and mediation strategies to promote student engagement in the learning community. Campus and Student Support will work closely with students, teachers, administration, community members, and families to provide an inviting school climate, and a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
• Student advocacy and support.
• Assist Dean of Students in providing code of conduct support to staff and students.
• Build meaningful relationships with all students, staff and families to create a positive school culture
• Engage and mentor students using an equity approach with high expectations
• Proactively de-escalates situations and conflicts through relationship building, mediation, and conflict resolution with all students and staff.
• Uses technology to promote safety and security: Security camera system, two way radios, School Management software, email, phone, general office equipment and software

PHYSICAL:
This job primarily involves physically walking around the building and occasional running. It also involves light lifting (up to approximately 50 pounds) and some sitting. There is occasional bending and stooping, squatting and crouching, reaching and manual dexterity for typing. Verbal and auditory communication is frequently involved. Near vision acuity, accommodation, and field of vision are also frequently utilized.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to perform effectively under stress and remain calm when working with agitated students; is able to be proactive, sensitive, and positive in order to de-escalate crisis situations
• Knowledge and skills required to provide basic first aid, CPR, and defibulator response
• Ability to work under specific instructions or to work independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate effective organizational and prioritizing skills
• Ability to set limits, tolerances, and standards
• General office skills, including typing, filing, recording keeping, and data entry
• Perform a variety of duties some repetitive or short cycle and others unpredictable
• Demonstrate flexibility and initiative
• Assume positive intentions
Environment
• This position works both inside the building and also outside on school grounds in all types of weather throughout the year.
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mindset of life-long learner who is accepting of feedback
• Experience in the use of computers, computer software (i.e. Word, Excel)
• Ability to develop positive and constructive relationships with students, staff and visitors
• Ability to establish and maintain an environment conducive to learning
• Ability to interact in a professional, positive, supportive, and helpful manner with peers, students, staff, and the public on routine, sensitive, and confidential matters
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to function effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
• Physically fit for walking, running, and lifting
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required.
Required training after hire:
First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
Non-violent Crisis Intervention
Restorative Practices Training
Successful completion of in-service program related to the position
Preferred:
• An understanding of working in urban, diverse, and large high school environments.
• Experience and/or training in a related field (i.e., education, criminal justice, human services, mentoring)
• A strong desire to work with students and grow professionally within the school district.
• A strong interest in teaching, coaching or advising student clubs/activities.
• Ability to speak Spanish (Bilingual)
• Experience working with school management software such as Infinite Campus
• Knowledge of safety monitoring equipment such as security cameras and two way radios.
