The School District of Union Grove Union High School is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE School Counselor beginning with the 2023-24 school year. Job Description Overview: The professional counselor is a student advocate, leader, collaborator, and a systems change agent. Counselors support students in the areas of academic achievement, career, and social/emotional development ensuring today’s students become productive, well-adjusted adults. Qualified applicants should possess: * A current Wisconsin certification for School Counselor K-12 * Master’s Degree in School Counseling * Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to establish rapport and build effective collaborative relationships with students, staff, families, administration and community partners Ability to establish and maintain an effective referral process with administrators, teachers, parents and other school personnel Ability to help students establish and develop goals and planning skills *Knowledge, understanding and use of data and assessment tools Ability to use data to make decisions, provide feedback and make recommendations that will increase student achievement and social/emotional well-being Ability to develop appropriate interventions and monitor student progress in multiple ways *Understanding and knowledge of program planning, delivery and management Ability to develop a program that meets social/emotional, academic and career needs of students Ability to effectively develop materials and demonstrate instructional strategies to meet student needs, school goals and achieve intended outcomes of the counseling curriculum. Ability to work with student groups and individual students while demonstrating effective guidance methodology Promotion of equity, access and academic success for every student Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet needs of students, staff and administration *Understanding of local, state and federal programs utilized within the school district Working knowledge of Wisconsin Academic and Career Planning requirements Working knowledge of Section 504 and IEP plan development and implementation *Professionalism Models ethical behavior and professional growth aligned with district vision/mission and ASCA ethical standards Ability to take a leadership role within the counseling department, school setting and community
