The Beaver Dam Unified School District seeks a full time Music Teacher to serve our Middle School students, beginning employment with the start of the 2023-24 school year. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to serve students in a growing and thriving music department, in a well-paying, highly collaborative, and progressive district. Our music department focuses on general music instruction that lays the foundation of student choral, instrumental, performance, and music appreciation skills. Our middle school music department currently comprises Band, Orchestra, and Choir classes as well as 6th Grade General Music. Instrumental Explorations is also offered as an elective in grades 7 & 8. We are seeking a candidate who can join our collaborative team as a general music and choral instructor, whose interest in pedagogy matches their passion for the performing arts, and who is open to finding creative ways to share that passion with our talented students. Music students at BDMS do not typically enter the program with the ability to read music, but generally have a musical interest and a love of performing. Their future teacher must show interest in interdisciplinary learning initiatives, a desire to bring music to the larger school community, and to connect students to performance opportunities throughout Beaver Dam and surrounding communities. This position requires a dynamic teacher with ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. An ideal candidate would be motivated, energetic, and creative; have experience with vocal and instrumental music, piano skills, as well as a commitment to building a comprehensive performing arts program that builds upon both performance and 21st century learning skills; to provide students with rigorous and high quality learning experiences; have a proactive and passionate teaching approach that encourages students to imagine, create, and learn. Candidates must be student-centered and have the ability to: - Provide a secure, comfortable, respectful, and inviting learning atmosphere which motivates and challenges students to achieve at their highest level. - Plan and deliver effective instruction that regularly integrates technology, engages students, enhances student learning experiences and provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. - Use data to adapt teaching methods, instructional materials and assessment strategies to meet the varying needs and interests of individual learners. All qualified candidates will be expected to: Collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students; positively engage various stakeholders in the school and community; establish and enforce rules for behavior.
