Duties of the Position: *Ability to provide social, emotional, and behavioral support based on best practices in social emotional learning instruction for students and staff (CASEL model) *Consult on academic practices following best practices to support removing of academic barriers for students *Build capacity with all building staff on soft skills of de-escalation techniques (i.e. verbal de-escalation, removing the audience, taking a break, processing, etc) *Help support staff to make sure expectations are taught, reinforced, and monitored with fidelity at the building level through PBIS, SEL and RC *Support teachers with behavioral supports and classroom management through modeling and coaching within the general education classroom *Participate with stakeholders (school counselor, school psychologist, parents, teachers, administration and community providers) to provide wrap-around supports for students *Assist in the process to complete Brief Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and Crisis Response Plans with School Psychologist *Tracking data for behavioral supports for students in need of progress monitoring *Provide professional development on behavior management, progress monitoring, and social skills *Other duties as assigned Special Skills Required: *Must be certified or eligible to teach Early/Middle Childhood Adolescence (grades 1-8) *Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience at the elementary/middle school level including demonstrated success developing and maintaining relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and administrators *Knowledge of the research and experience with the implementation of school wide behavior supports including Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Response to Intervention (RtI), Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Responsive Classroom (RC), restorative practices, child development-including applied behavioral analysis, and conducting observations and interviews to determine the root causes of the behavior all relating to Herrman’s Equitable Multilevel System of Supports (EMLSS) *Experience as a member of a Building Leadership Team, PBIS team or Student Management Team *Completion of PBIS Training (multiple Tiers preferred) *Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification *Knowledge of and experience with implementation of Trauma Informed Practices Required license Number: #1777 or other education license Internal candidates only need to submit a letter of interest.
