Duties of the Position: Encourages and promotes the academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. Work collaboratively with other teachers. Teacher of a classroom that is composed mostly of at-risk students who benefit from a smaller class size, increased academic and social/emotional support, smaller teacher/student ratio and a strong sense of community. This teacher will be responsible for academic instruction in all core subjects. Special Skills Required: Must be certified or eligible to teach Early/Middle Childhood Adolescence (grades 1-8) The ability to establish strong, trusting, positive relationships with students. The ability to promote confidence in student learning as well as have strong classroom management skills. Training and/or experience in PBIS, trauma sensitivity and responsive classroom preferred but not necessary.
