Full Time
Rio High School is seeking a full-time high school English teacher. The position also leads our education and human services department which includes teaching classes, coordinating student teaching experiences, and managing the peer mentoring program. The ideal candidate will possess excellent collaboration skills, be forward-thinking, and dedicated to building positive relationships with students, staff and stakeholders. Candidates should be well-versed in best practices in reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as, data-driven decision-making, relevant grading and assessment principles, using technology to increase student learning outcomes, and differentiating instruction to best meet the needs of diverse learners. This position is scheduled to teach: English 10, AP Language, CAPP College Writing, Intro to Education and Human Services, and CAPP EDU 110: Education Policy, Truth and Myths. The ideal candidate will be CAPP certified through UW Oshkosh or able to achieve certification. Certification requires separate master's degrees in English and Education, or 18 graduate credits in English and 18 graduate credits in Education. Candidates who are not currently certified but willing to become certified are encouraged to apply. Rio Middle/ High School is part of the Rio Community School District, a small yet vibrant community located in Columbia County. The middle/high school has a population of approximately 185 of the best students you will ever meet with low student to teacher ratios.
