Position Title: 6-12 Interventionist Department/Location: Rio Middle/High School Reports to: Building Principal POSITION SUMMARY: The Academic Success Interventionist will provide research-based instruction to students in need of interventions by following Wisconsin's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). The position will also serve students who are at-risk of graduating and have 504 plans. Requirements: 6-12 WI educator licensure in reading and/or math or cross-categorical special education Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist licensure preferred Essential Functions: Use knowledge of student needs to plan individualized interventions Design and use assessment tools to measure and data rack student progress Monitor and maintain accurate assessment records Share data and information with school staff Work with content area teachers to help strengthen classroom instruction, differentiation, and provide interventions within the classroom 504 Coordinator: Serve as the coordinator for students with Section 504 plans Follow Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and relevant IDEA laws and regulations when developing and implementing plans Lead an appropriate evaluation of students recommended for 504 plans Create appropriate Section 504 plans for eligible students Communicate with students and families regarding creating, implementing, and evaluating 504 plans Communicate with and monitor staff members and external partners regarding student 504 plans At-Risk Coordinator: Serve as the coordinator for students who are at-risk of not graduating from high school under s.118.153(1), Wis. Stats Attend to the social, personal and academic needs of students who have been identified as at-risk of failing and graduating Create, implement, and evaluate individual plans for students at-risk of graduating Communicate with parents and staff members regarding programming and supports for students at-risk Work with external partners on implementing supports for at-risk students Professional Skills and Knowledge: Understanding of 504 law, implementation, and compliance Knowledge of research findings and recent trends Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Knowledge and proven experience in literacy and math up to 10th grade common core standards Experience using data to drive differentiated instruction in 1:1 and small group settings Ability to build strong relationships with struggling and/or diverse learners Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with administrators, teachers, and staff Desire to grow professionally and respond to regular feedback Other duties as assigned.
