Arrowhead Union High School District is seeking applications for a part-time Theatre Technical Director. This position provides safe, effective, and efficient operations of the auditorium to meet the learning and performance needs of all theatre users.

The position responsibilities are as follows:
1. Responsible for creating, updating, and adhering to a written protocol for the safe and
appropriate use of the theatre facilities, including the scene shop, stage areas, house, control booth, dressing rooms, storage areas, and catwalk areas.
2. Monitor the safe and appropriate use of the theatre facilities; respond appropriately and professionally to any misuse or unforeseen and/or emergency needs of users.
3. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the theatre, associated facilities, and all theatre equipment, including lighting, sound, scene shop tools, and rigging equipment; conduct or arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; plan and execute preventive maintenance in all areas.
4. Instruct, train, supervise, lead, and work with student stage crew members and volunteer adults during all set construction / technical preparation and tech/dress rehearsals.
5. Serve as the technical director for district musical/drama productions (4).
6. Collaborate with designers, directors, and set builders on each production.
7. Instruct students, volunteer adults, and community group users in the principles of theater safety, design and management related to the operations of the auditorium
8. Determine, coordinate, and set up the technical needs (sound, lighting, staging, special needs) of the theatre for scheduled events (in conjunction with the Theatre Manager).
9. Determine the level of technical crew needed for scheduled events. Schedule and supervise crew for events as needed (in conjunction with the Stage Crew Advisors).
10. Attend all technical/dress rehearsals, in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of mounting the show.
11. Attend all performances of the production, in order to supervise stage crew and assist in the running of the show.
12. Conduct pre-production and post-production walk-throughs to ensure all equipment is operational and in good working condition and that all safety rules are being adhered to.
13. Responsible for creating, updating, and adhering to a written protocol for the inventory and safe and efficient storage and use of all theatre equipment.
14. Communicate with the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and custodial/maintenance staff regarding the cleanliness, repairs, maintenance and custodial needs.
15. Participate in the annual budget development for facility and technical needs in conjunction with the Theatre Manager; make recommendations regarding future purchases of technical equipment and consumables.
16. Set up and operate the lights/sound for various band and choir concerts in both the theatre and a gymnasium setting.
17. Set up and operate the sound for graduation on the football field.
18. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years experience in technical theatre or theatre management.
• Previous technical training or experience on digital lighting consoles (ETC), moving lights, digital sound boards (Allen & Heath), and basic scene shop tools.
• Any such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement applicable fire and safety codes.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relating to all business, personnel and school district matters
• Commitment to professional standards and ethics.
• Knowledge and ability to use computer equipment and associated theatre technical equipment.

The usual working environment of this position is that of a theatre and surrounding spaces. The person in this position will be required to attend events and activities outside the hours of the regular school day. The employee continuously interacts with other staff members and regularly meets multiple demands from several people.
