School Counselor ($5,000 hiring bonus) Sugar Creek Elementary School 1.0 FTE Position to begin on August 22, 2023. Ability to collaborate with building staff in identifying and addressing at-risk behaviors and issues that may affect a student’s success at school; Prior experience with a diverse student population at the elementary school setting preferred; Thorough understanding of the core principles of Responsive Classroom and Restorative Practices; Awareness of the Social-Emotional Learning competencies, and experience supporting staff to implement SEL practices including, but not limited to: Developmental Designs, Second Step and Zones of Regulation; Familiarity with effective, evidence based classroom management practices, and experience both using these strategies as well as supporting staff in their implementation; Expertise in trauma informed practices, mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and threat assessment procedures; Open approach to reactive behavioral response needs; Experience with facilitating multi-tiered levels of support; Understanding of a Two Way Immersion program; Will work to remove barriers to access for students who have been historically marginalized; Creates equitable educational experiences for students, staff and parents; Effective use of systems and processes to improve school climate; Demonstrated effective communication, listening, collaboration and relationship building skills; Can design and provide professional staff development; Prior experience leading Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) required. This position is part of the teacher unit. There will be extended days as part of this assignment. This position is eligible for a $5,000 new hire bonus.
